Peter was a Civil Service Employee for the U.S. Navy for 40 years (serving in various capacities) and working in San Francisco and Puget Sound Naval Shipyards. He retired January 3, 2004. Peter started as an Apprentice Marine Machinist at San Francisco Naval Shipyard - retired as Director, Naval Inactive Ships Maintenance Facility (NISMF) Bremerton, Washington.
He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Peter enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and friends, walking, reading, traveling and working in his yard. Survivors are spouse - Louise (Natividad) Galassi of the Port Orchard, Washington family home; mother - Elizabeth Galassi of Guerneville, California; daughters - Deanne Hilburn, of Renton; Debbie Galassi of Shoreline; brothers - Paul Galassi (& wife, Sue) of Novato, California, David Galassi (& wife, Carole) of Orinda, California, Michael Galassi of Santa Rosa, California; sister - Adele Westling (& husband, Mike) of Guerneville, California; grandson - Austin Peter Hilburn; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be held at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard, Washington on Friday, July 15, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations - in lieu of flowers - may be made to: St. Gabriel Catholic Church 1150 Mitchell Ave. Port Orchard, WA 98366
